(English below) Vor sechs Jahren übernahm ich die bedeutende Fossilien- und Gesteinssammlung meines Freundes David Schmälzle (1971-2018), der bei einem Verkehrsunfall ums Leben kam. Er war Präparator bei Berliner Universitäten und sammelte hauptsächlich im norddeutschen Geschiebe. Ich habe die wegen eines Umzugs von David Schmälzle in Kisten verpackte Sammlung geordnet, publiziert und nachbestimmt, darunter Ancestrothallus schmaelzlei (Troppenz, 2021, Natureum Schwerin). Nun habe ich die Sammlung Dr. Frank Rudolph vom Eiszeit-Haus Flensburgt übergeben, wo sie einen würdigen Platz gefunden hat.

Das Eiszeit-Haus ist das erdgeschichtliche Schaumagazin des Naturwissenschaftlichen Museums Flensburg. Die historischen Sammlungen sowie Kollektionen aus jüngerer Zeit sind nach Absprache im Eiszeit-Haus zugänglich. Ein Schwerpunkt der aktuellen Sammlungstätigkeit besteht im Aufbau einer systematischen Sammlung kristalliner Geschiebe einschließlich einer Vergleichssammlung mit zahlreichen Proben aus Skandinavien.

Six years ago I took over the important fossil and rock collection of my friend David Schmälzle (1971-2018), who died in a traffic accident. He was a taxidermist at Berlin universities and collected mainly geschiebes in northern Germany. I organized and reidentified David Schmälzle's collection, which was packed in boxes due to a move, including Ancestrothallus schmaelzlei (Troppenz, 2021, Natureum Schwerin). Now I gave the collection to Dr. Frank Rudolph from the Ice Age House in Flensburg, northern Germany, where it found a worthy place.

The Ice Age House is the geological display magazine of the Flensburg Natural Science Museum. The historical collections as well as collections from more recent times are accessible by arrangement in the Ice Age House. One focus of the current collection activity is the development of a systematic collection of crystalline debris, including a comparative collection with numerous samples from Scandinavia.
